Dress for Success
Midwest
Dress For Success is a program that helps low-income women make tailored
transitions into the workforce. Each Dress For Success client receives
one suit when she has an interview and a second suit when she lands the
job. Every suit that is donated to Dress For Success is given away to
a woman who is on the road to independence. No fees are charged to the
clients or to organizations that utilize the service. In the past ten
years, Dress For Success Midwest has suited over 8,000 women for job
interviews. (Offices are located in Southwest IL, St. Louis and St. Charles.)

All profits from the event will be donated to:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois
Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to provide a mentor for every
child who wants and needs one. In 2007, the agency served more than 1,300
youth
in Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties. A contribution from
Diva Net would be used to expand the number of girls matched with Big
Sisters. Girls matched in a one-to-one relationship with a Big Sister
demonstrate improvement in competence, social skills, academics and in
relationships with their friends and family members.

The Girl Scouts -
River Bluff Council / In School Scouting Program
In School Scouting Program (ISS)
The River Bluffs Council, in collaboration with the East St. Louis School
District #189, offers ISS to 1300 low-income, under served girls in
grades 1 - 5 in 12 schools and 1 - 8 in one school. Weekly Brownie
(grades 1-3) and Junior (grades 4 -8) Girl Scout meetings are offered
during the school day for 32 weeks for 30-45 minutes during a special
activity period. Girls learn leadership skills, the benefit of listening
to peers, the value of respect, and the process of positive conflict
resolution. Program modules consisting of math, science, the environment,
arts, personal fitness and well being provide opportunities for girls
to try new things, take risks, and challenge themselves for the future.
ISS is vital to these at-risk girls so they may overcome their surroundings
and grow up to be strong, caring and responsible women.
